The Wrong Reasons

If you’re writing the last line to make sure that that’s going to be the title of the song, you’re writing it for the wrong reasons.

Deep, huh?

Well, it caught my attention. Not that I’m all that deep as a human being but hey. It got me thinking.

Writing’s not a convenience: it’s a conjuration.

It’s pulling things out of the air and putting them together, word after word after word after word until you get the Big New Thing… but if you want them all to stick when you’re done – if you want the fiction to hold –  shouldn’t all those little things mean something too?

Just saying.

(Thank you Chester.)
